Hair Removal: Is it better to shave, wax or laser it away?

Summertime will soon arrive. If you’re like most people in Mississauga, you’re starting to think about lazy days spent at the beach – and the chore of removing unwanted hair.

There are many hair removal options out there, but they’re not all created equal. They’re often a time-consuming and, sometimes, painful process.

An increasing number of women and men are turning to #LaserHairRemovalMississauga as their solution. We’ll tell you why but, first, let’s compare some common options.

Option #1: Shaving

Using a sharp razor, shaving removes hair from the surface of your skin. The immediate result is smooth skin, but it only lasts a few days. In some areas, prickly hair can reappear within just 24 hours. Although quick and cheap, it’s an endless battle that often results in cuts, razor burn or unsightly red bumps.

Option #2: Depilatory creams

Depilatories dissolve the hair shaft with chemical ingredients. Apply a thick layer of cream, wait several minutes, rinse and voilà! No hair. The results last for about one week. Thanks to the chemicals, though, many people are sensitive to depilatory creams and experience redness or irritation at the site of application. The odor is pungent, at best, making it a less-than-desirable hair removal solution for many people.

Option #3: Waxing

Using warm wax and a strip of material, the hair is ripped out of the skin root and all. The result is super smooth skin that lasts for two to three weeks. But let’s face it. Waxing is painful! It can lead to redness and ingrown hairs which are less attractive than the hair itself. You will also need to go through a fuzzy peach phase while you regrow the hair until it’s long enough to wax again.

Why is laser hair removal a better option?

It’s long-lasting and, when done at Dolce Vita Medical Salon &Spa, it’s virtually painless. Laser hair removal uses a heated pulsating beam of light that destroys the hair follicle, making it a highly effective long-term solution.

Three to eight treatments are necessary but the results last for one year, or more. Best of all? You will only need the occasional touch up after your initial round of treatments.

Medical laser hair removal in Mississauga

The highly skilled technicians at our hair salon and medical spa in Mississauga use the Pain-free, Hair-Free™ laser hair removal system.

Using a sweeping, paintbrush-like technique, the laser stays in constant motion. That results in comfortable treatments that are safe for even the most sensitive areas. Many clients say that the sensation is similar to getting a hot stone massage.

The laser emits an invisible light which penetrates the skin without damaging it. At the hair follicle, the laser light absorbed by the pigments is converted into heat. This heat will damage the follicle.
